Awareness Video Competition
Grand Finale & Chhori Udaya Forum: September 13, 2025 || Bhadra 28, 2082
Location: Kathmandu, Nepal
The Skill Spark Championship 2025 is a nationwide movement to spark awareness and drive social change through creative expression andadvocacy for women's education. Themed "An Educated Woman, A Transformed Nation", this event features a Video Competition, led by the Chhori Uday (Rise of Women) Forum in Kathmandu.
Expected 300+ participants from all seven provinces of Nepal, individuals and groups (up to 5 members) will create videos highlighting the transformative power of educated women. Videos will be shared on social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok), and the top 14 (2 from each province) videos, selected by a panel of judges, will be featured on mainstream media (TV and online news portals). The Chhori Uday Forum will unite 500+ stakeholders, including policymakers, activists, and community leaders, to discuss actionable strategies for women's empowerment in Nepal.
The Skill Spark Championship 2025 addresses the critical need to promote women's education as a catalyst for national development. The event aims to raise awareness about the pivotal role of educated women in strengthening families, communities, and the nation; inspire action through creative storytelling to shift mindsets and advocate for policy changes; foster collaboration by providing a platform for stakeholders to develop solutions for gender equality in education; and amplify voices by showcasing stories of resilience and potential, reaching thousands through social and mainstream media. This initiative aligns with Nepal's goals for gender equality and sustainable development, making it a vital platform for social change.
Women's education in Nepal faces significant challenges. The female literacy rate is approximately 59.7%, compared to 78.6% for males, with larger disparities in rural areas (UNESCO, 2021). Only 36% of girls complete secondary education due to early marriage, household responsibilities, or economic constraints (UNICEF, 2020). Just 12% of women pursue tertiary education, limiting professional opportunities (World Bank, 2022). Patriarchal norms and gender discrimination restrict access to education, especially in remote regions. Despite educated women boosting economic growth, only 26% participate in the formal workforce, partly due to educational barriers (ILO, 2023). The Skill Spark Championship 2025 aims to address these issues by celebrating women's education and advocating for systemic change.
